Black Crowe Hunt – Part 1

Black Crowe Hunt - Part 1

My avatar is a tad gothic for this post in honor of the first day of the Black Crowe hunt. All items worn in this look can be found as part of the hunt, with the exception of the hair. The cute kimono is by Naminoke and comes with multiple layers. I’m wearing all pieces except the flexy which moved as you walk and almost seems animated of its own accord. It even comes with traditional-style footwear that adds a nice touch. I paired the outfit with a necklace from Adoness for the same hunt. The prize actually comes with a hair ornament which isn’t shown. Panda Punx is taking part in the hunt and has a skin and shape available for finding. The skin went perfectly with my shape. The prize also includes appliers for everything imaginable, so this is a great option for everyone. Each item in the hunt can be purchased for 10L, so the total for this look only comes to 30L! When you visit each store you will be searching for a black feather.

A Second Life Gypsy

Gypsy

WAPPEN is a fairly new brand in Second Life, but the creator has produced multiple items which are chic and ultra girly. The newest release is the skirt that I’m wearing in this photo. Don’t ask me why, but it made me think of a gypsy, so I paired it with the cropped shirt (also from WAPPEN) and bold jewelry (necklace is a group gift from Pure Poison). In some ways, this look personifies my Second Life – I wander throughout the grid shopping and finding new landscapes and without a true home. Of course these days, “gypsies” are more settled and are actually called Roma people. But the legacy and stereotype lives on. To some extent, I think many avatars in SL are gypsies.

The gypsy stereotype is also that of a fortune-teller. In reality I am a medium, so if you’re ever looking into personal insights for yourself, come find me 😉

Once Upon a Time…

Once Upon a Time...

LivGlam released this gorgeous “Love Story Gown” yesterday for Fi*Friday. The event will likely last for several more days to give people enough time to buy the item. 55L is a true deal. The gown comes in five other colors in addition to the green pictured here. I wanted to show it for it’s exquisite front detail and draping. The gown makes me think of a medieval legend, which is why I feature an old church in the background. Back in those days it’s probably the type of dress a woman might have worn to her wedding, since they definitely didn’t have the white dress tradition that many Western countries have these days. My hope is that this image is emotive – my attempt was for my avi to look blissful and sweet as if experiencing a first young love.

Travel to the Serengeti

Travel to the Serengeti

This post is coming a day late because I just spent the last two days away at a training for work, but now it’s finally here! The items and location in today’s post remind me of some of the images that I once studies of sub-Saharan African countries. My knowledge of that continent continues to inspire me today. Amarelo Manga has released another jumpsuit called Teresa and it comes in five different batik patterns. There is an option for everyone. The detail is exquisite. It comes with cropped pants which are definitely coming back in style, especially since spring is returning to us in the Northern hemisphere. Considering my favorite color is red, I focused on this one. The jewelry pieces from Pure Poison added to the African feel, especially the large broach charm on the necklace. You’ve seen me post quite a few of my entries featuring Pure Poison.

As a side note, I wanted to let everyone know that HEYDRA‘s store has relocated. To celebrate the re-opening, she has a 5000L shopping spree raffle right now. All you have to do is join the HEYDRA in-world group, go to the store and click the sign to enter the raffle. Run over there as soon as you can!

Sunset Style

Sunset Style

Yesterday I posted the Womenstuff hunt item from Glitterati by Sapphire. Today I have another beautiful item for the same hunt (and more) from Hudson’s. The dress is a mesh base covered in a red floral pattern. In addition there is an optional flexi skirt that can be worn on top. It does add some nice movement, so I included it for the photo. If you go to the Hudson’s mainstore you can also search for the Steampunk hunt item which is a necklace and earring set. It’s two finely detailed locks that say “together forever” which I thought was sweet. There are two necklaces so you can wear one and have a partner wear the other.

The other two items I should mention are the shoes and hair. The former is a group gift from BSD Design Studio. The group won’t be free to join much longer, so grab the shoes while you can. There are also handbags available in the same place. The hair is the most recent group gift from Little Bones called Full Moon. This is my favorite hair from Nova to date because I can’t get enough of the windswept style which is really popular right now in SL.

By the way, every item in today’s look is completely free. It’s been a while since I put one of those together. Overall this is a high quality look for anyone who doesn’t have lindens at the moment.

Following the Fairy Light

Following the Fairy Light

The Womenstuff hunt began on March 1st and runs for the rest of the month. It’s actually part of the much larger MEGAstuff hunt which includes items for men and home, as well. Today I’m featuring the Womenstuff item from Glitterati by Sapphire. It’s an outfit with mini-dress and boots. The pattern on the dress with its cute little hearts harkens back to Valentine’s Day and is a nice way to continue the month of love all the way into spring.

Greek Goddess by the Sea

Greek Goddess by the Sea

Lugoi Devotion recently chose me as a blogger and one of the new releases Daphne caught my eye. As if by chance, the same day I put on the dress, I stumbled upon a gorgeous sim as seen in the photo. I found a beautiful windlight that reminded me of the brilliant blue water of Greece. It brought back wonderful honeymoon memories. LD is great because they produce RP garments, which I think work well for everyday wear also. I received multiple compliments on this look as I traveled around SL.

Finding the Right Fit

HEYDRA has released a fitted mesh dress in her mainstore. Given the reputation of this new technology, I was thrilled to have the change to wear and model it. Unlike with regular sized mesh, I can have on my casual (and slightly curvy) shape, and the dress fits like a glove. I can’t wait for more fitted mesh!

Dress: HEYDRA
Necklace: Pure Poison (group gift)
Shoes: Essenz (gift from The Style Icon fair)
Hair: Lelutka

Ready and Waiting

This is the last photo taken on my old computer. Everything from here on out will have been done on my new lenovo.

HEYDRA makes beautiful dresses, and I always like to wear them, especially as they photograph nicely. This is another bold patterned dress which is available in the store. You can find it on the second floor of the store. The “eyebow” is one of the items available from The Horror! at the Nouveaux creative collective. I was recently chosen as one of their bloggers and I couldn’t be happier. They have very talented designers stationed there, so be sure to check it out. In addition, the sim is photogenic. I have taken several photos there in the past. I will have more items from them to show in the coming days.

Changing the Fashion Scales

Wearing this outfit today makes me feel like a mermaid who just got her land legs. The bag, jacket and skirt all have scale-like patterns which go well together. The outfit is called “Black Sea” created by my friend Diana for her brand Fantasia. It’s named for the sea that Romania has coast line on, which I have actually visited. There are a lot of resorts there and this outfit is perfect to wear to the beach side clubs. The bag and shoes are two offerings from Amarelo Manga. Designer Circle is a discount event that happens periodically and AM has participated several times. This bag is my favorite of any. It’s hard to see in the photo, but “Amarelo Manga” is embossed on the front. I love that touch, especially as I’m someone who covets designer handbags in real life.

Shoes and bag: Amarelo Manga (available at Designer Circle)
Jacket and skirt: Fantasia (Mysteries of the Sea hunt gift/5L/Available starting March 10th)
Necklace: Pure Poison (group gift)
