An American in London

An American in London
This photo takes me back to my fun-filled days living in London. It was a spring I’ll never forget.

There are a few style notes I’d like to make about this outfit. For one, many might not know about me, but I love anything camo. In reality I don’t wear it much, but in my SL inventory, there is so much camo it’s ridiculous. Every time I come across something made with a camo pattern, I almost inevitably buy it. Lately I’ve had to rein in my habit. The second note I want to make is about these shorts. Many of the shorts created in SL and available at events tend to show off booty cheeks. While that’s a great look for many people, it’s not my style at all. I’m so lucky that Pixicat created these shorts which are just long enough to cover my derrière.

Two Shoe Ideas

Today I have a quick post for you to show a few pairs of shoes that I am currently in love with. The two of them are DRASTICALLY different from each other. I have decided to show them both so that you can have a sense of what a classy casual business shoe looks like, compared to something completely out of the box and avant garde. If you want to have an inventory with diversity and one with items in it that will serve you well for any occasion, then it’s important to have different genres in there. That’s why I advocate that you should have some of the more chic classic pumps like the ones featured here, but also should not be afraid to buy a few stand out pieces that could be used in avant garde, haute couture, sci-fi or even fantasy.

It’s the AM

It's the AM
Today I’m showing you another blue and white dress from the one of the most recent Amarelo Manga collections. I was inspired to again visit New York City to demonstrate just how perfect this dress is for a girl on the go.

I also added the beautiful Angel Heart necklace available this month for the Mix event. You have several colors to choose from and two different metals. I though the citron matched best with the dress. It is a great reminder that there are angels all around us and it is important to be kind.

Lina

Lina

This week since coming back from my New York trip, SLife has been chaotic. The 24 event by Siren Productions has started and yesterday I was in one of the fashion shows. United Colors is a new-ish brand to me, but their existence is not new. I had seen them around fashion shopping events for a while. Therefore, it was a great experience to be a part of that show. It doesn’t feel like I get to model casual fashions much in my career, so I have fun changing it up. My favorite look was the Lina dress, which is also their main exclusive for the 24. It was the first of my three looks. It was fun to choose poses and a walk for it, with the sleek and narrow ankle-length pencil skirt bottom.

Dress: United Colors – Lina from The 24
Hair: Truth Hair – Ami
Shoes: Glamistry – Malva (detail available below)
Necklace: Cae – Serpent

Jump!

jump!-final
I decided to post a classic mix-and-match look. So much of the time on this blog, I show great items available at the latest events. While that is all well and good, I have read in articles that a variety of fashion is appreciated. Only one of the items in this post is recent. The rest of it is a mix of mesh and prim. That is a point I would like to make. In my opinion, it would be a mistake to completely throw out system clothing, prim items and even sculpt pieces in favor of going completely mesh. I love mesh, but the reason for keeping other pieces? Because mesh has a habit of not layer well on top of other items from the same material. A small example of this is the belt I am wearing in this photo. It is a resizable prim belt, and therefore, I was able to make it large enough to fit over the pants and sit in exactly the right place under the edge of the shirt. My only caveat to this is that I believe the system/prim/sculpt pieces we do keep in our inventories should be of very high quality and impeccable textures. Anything less, go ahead and throw out!

On another note, I consider this outfit to be more adventurous than fits with my normal style. Truthfully, I play it safe more often than not. But this time, the pants inspired me to play around with color. Usually I stick to 3 colors per outfit for the ease of styling and coordination. However, I wanted to step out of the box with these autumn hues and I encourage every stylist and model to do the same. In the end, it’s likely going to look very sophisticated. I have already had many compliments on this ensemble. It has been saved in my inventory as a favorite outfit.

Silvy in the Frost

snowprincess-final
Sometimes we need a break from the heat to remember how nice it can feel during the cool winter. For some reason, the Silvy dress by GIULIADESIGN made me think of an ice princess. The good kind!

After a while of thinking about it, I have decided to make a slight change of direction to my blog. I will continue to blog the designers and events I love, but I will also be writing about fashion/modeling tips and tricks, as well as my opinions. Not every post will have it, especially if I am writing a great deal about specific events, sales or other opportunities. This additional information will always be placed below a cut in my blog post after style credits so that people can just read the pieces they like.

Gown: GIULIADESIGN – Silvy in white
Make up: Zibska – Arzu Frost (free group gift)
Pose: Posesion from the Denisse set
